What the App does
Torch Scan scans documents with your phone's camera, builds PDFs, keeps them in a library on the device, and lets you request a quote for a certified translation. It is a mobile app; there is no desktop or web version.
The App is free
Torch Scan is free to download and free to use. There are no fees, no in-app purchases, no subscription, no premium tier, and no advertising. U.S. Language Services LLC may change, update, or discontinue the app at any time.
Requesting a certified translation (optional)
The translation request is optional and never automatic. It is an email that you send from your own mail app. Sending it is not an order, and it creates no obligation for you or for U.S. Language Services LLC.
Quotes, pricing, and your decision to proceed
Prices shown in the app are estimates based on the word count the app calculates. The app can also identify the language wrongly. Both the word count and the language are checked when we review the PDF you send us: U.S. Language Services LLC confirms the source and target languages along with the price and the delivery time, all by email. An order exists only once you accept that confirmation and pay. By paying you accept the terms and conditions and the privacy policy of U.S. Language Services LLC, which govern the translation service, as set out in section 6.
Payment (Stripe)
Payment is processed by Stripe through a payment link sent by email. No payment is ever taken inside the app. U.S. Language Services LLC does not store your card details.
Certified translation service terms
The translation service itself is governed by the U.S. Language Services LLC service terms, available at uslanguageservices.com/terms-and-conditions.
What a certified translation is
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation required for official use by government institutions, universities, colleges and courts.
All our certified translations are issued in accordance with the regulations established by the government institutions that most frequently require this type of document. A certified translation includes a certificate issued on our corporate letterhead signed by the translator and a U.S. Language Services LLC representative in PDF format.
For a full explanation of what a certified translation is and when you are asked for one, see the frequently asked questions on our website: uslanguageservices.com/faq.
Acceptable use
Use Torch Scan only with documents you are entitled to scan and translate, and only for lawful purposes. Do not reverse engineer the app, and do not use it to infringe anyone's rights.
Your device and third-party services
The scanner, text recognition, mail app, and app stores that Torch Scan relies on are provided by Apple and Google under their own terms. Your use of them is governed by those terms.
No warranties
Torch Scan is provided as is. Scan quality depends on your device, your camera, and your lighting. Word counts and text recognition are estimates produced on the device, and the language detected on the device can be the wrong one; none of them is guaranteed to be exact. For that reason the price the app shows is never final: every request is reviewed by one of our project managers, and the price is always confirmed to you by email before you pay.
Limitation of liability
Liability in connection with a certified translation is governed by the U.S. Language Services LLC terms and conditions published on our website, as stated in section 6.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new date.
