Privacy Policy

U.S. Language Services LLC
Last updated: September 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application (the "App") published by U.S. Language Services LLC ("USLS", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information. It is written specifically for the App and describes only what happens inside the App. It does not cover our website or any other service, which are governed by their own separate policies.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. Your use of the App is also governed by our Terms & Conditions.

The short version

The App is built so that your documents stay on your device. When you scan a document, everything — capturing the image, detecting text, and counting words — happens locally on your phone using on-device intelligence. Your images and their contents are not sent to us, and they are not uploaded to any server, as part of the normal scanning experience.

The only time anything leaves your device is when you choose to send a scanned file to us to request a quote for a certified translation. That step is entirely optional and is carried out by your phone's own email app, which you control.

What happens on your device

When you scan a document with the App, all of the following take place locally on your phone:

  • Image capture and processing. The document image is captured and enhanced on your device.
  • Text recognition (OCR). Any text in the document is read using on-device intelligence (such as Apple Vision or Google ML Kit, depending on your phone). No image or text is transmitted to us for this.
  • Word counting. The App estimates the number of words locally, so it can show you information like an approximate length.
  • File creation and storage. The resulting file (for example, a PDF) is created and stored on your device, under your control.

We do not receive, see, or store any of this. We have no access to your scans, the text inside them, or the word counts the App calculates. There is no account, no login, and no profile associated with your use of the scanning features.

What happens only when you choose to send a file

The App includes an optional way to request a certified human translation from USLS. This is 100% optional and is never triggered automatically.

If — and only if — you decide to request a quote:

  1. You select a scanned file and choose the option to request a certified translation.
  2. The App opens your phone's default email app, with a message pre-addressed to info@uslanguageservices.com and your selected file attached.
  3. You review and send that email yourself, from your own email account. Nothing is sent until you tap send in your email app.

At that point, the information leaves your device through your own email provider, in the same way any email you send does. We receive your email and its attachment because you have sent it to us to ask for a quote.

If you never use this option, no document, text, or personal information is ever shared with us.

Information we receive when you request a quote

When you choose to email us a document to request a certified translation, we receive:

  • The document file(s) you attached.
  • Your email address and any details you include in your message (for example, the target language or any notes you add).

We use this information solely to:

  • Prepare a firm quote for the requested translation;
  • Reply to you with that quote and the payment details; and
  • Carry out the translation if you decide to hire the service.

We do not use the documents you send us for advertising, and we do not share them with outside parties except as strictly necessary to complete the work you have requested. As with our other translation services, your documents are handled under a strict confidentiality policy.

If you decide to place an order, payment is processed externally by our payment provider (Stripe). We never receive, store, or keep your credit card information. The commercial terms of any order — pricing, your freedom to decline, and how quotes work — are described in our Terms & Conditions.

What we do not collect

  • We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
  • We do not upload your scans to our servers.
  • We do not include third-party advertising or advertising trackers in the App.
  • We do not display ads, apply watermarks, or sell your information.

Your phone's own services

The App relies on features your phone already provides — for example, the camera, on-device text recognition, file storage, and your email app. These are operated by your device's operating system (such as Apple or Google) under their own terms and privacy policies. When you send a quote request, your chosen email provider also handles that message under its own terms. We do not control those services.

Children

The App is intended for adults handling their own or their family's documents. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected within the App.
